Global Plant Humanities Network (GPHN)

Envisioning New Possibilities for Plants, Places, and People
OUR MISSION
The Global Plant Humanities Network (GPHN) aims to foster interdisciplinary research into vegetal life, human-plant relationships, and botanical conservation globally with a particular focus on cross-cultural exchanges between academics, writers, journalists, artists, performers, activists, horticulturalists, conservationists, and other diverse parties concerned with the future of plants.
GPHN germinated among environmental humanities scholars John C. Ryan of Australia/USA and Goutam Majhi of India during the 1st International Conference on Global Plant Humanities, which took place at Sadhan Chandra Mahavidyalaya (a college affiliated with the University of Calcutta) in West Bengal on the 12th of December 2023, attracting participants from around the world. The inaugural Keynote Speaker was Professor Tim Entwisle, Former Director of Royal Botanic Garden, Victoria, Australia. Click here to view the 2023 conference program.
